Caledonia Farmers Elevator Company (CFE) is a progressive producer owned cooperative. At inception in 1918, CFE served southern Kent and northern Allegan and Barry counties of Michigan by providing farm and home supplies, including feed, seed, plant food, and hardware. Services offered included grain marketing and storage and egg grading. As the need and opportunity rose, a lumberyard and seed processing plants were added.
Today, CFE is comprised of main offices and plants at Caledonia and branch outlets for feed and grain in downtown Lake Odessa, and for agronomy east of Lake Odessa in Barry County, serving central and west Michigan. Product lines have expanded to include Pioneer Hi-Bred(r), Croplan, DeKalb, and Michigan Certified seeds, Land O' Lakes, Buckeye, Kalmbach, Purina, and custom blend feeds, liquid, dry, and anhydrous ammonia plant foods, a full spectrum of crop protection products, structural, finish, and fence lumber and steel products and hardware, pet supplies, and dry goods. Services now include soil and feed testing and recommendations, custom plant food and crop protection application including GPS, livestock fence building, specialized grain marketing, and construction estimates. Specialized staff includes Certified Crop Advisors, Professional Custom Applicators, American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists, and Home Design and Construction licensees.
