Grains Retreat From Daily Highs Wednesday as Traders Await USDA Update

Agricultural markets were quiet Wednesday with a mixed tone overall as
initial euphoria over the newly solidified trade truce between the U.S. and
China was quick to run its course through the futures market. For now, traders
are likely shifting their sights back to market fundamentals which will be
refreshed by the USDA in Thursday's World Agricultural Supply and Demand
Estimates report. Equity markets were subdued in their reaction to the trade
news as many of the finer details of the agreement are still unknown at this
point. Meanwhile, NYMEX crude oil futures jumped Wednesday to their highest
price since April 4, driven by a decline in oil stocks reported by the Energy
Information Administration (EIA) Wednesday morning.
