Food Safety and Quality

Trillium Farms is committed to producing safe, high-quality shell eggs for consumers. We demonstrate our commitment by participating in several quality assurance programs, taking preventive measures, and exceeding all egg safety guidelines. Our farms actively promote safe food handling by enforcing policies and procedures through associate training and educational programs.

Production
Protecting our flocks from the spread of disease is a key way to ensure the safety of the eggs they produce. Biosecurity protocols have changed immensely in recent years, and Trillium has made significant investments to ensure our hens are always protected. Strict biosecurity protocols are in place surrounding visitors to the farm and the movement of employees and equipment between farms. These protocols are essential to maintaining the health and safety of our hens.

In addition, Trillium Farms has a Salmonella Enteriditis (S.E.) prevention plan in place as a preventive measure. This plan contains many elements such as biosecurity, pest control, and environmental testing to maintain the health of the flock. Our plan meets the requirements for the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Egg Rule and is audited for compliance by Trillium Farms’ internal farm compliance team and the FDA.

Processing
Trillium Farms’ processing plants are managed under comprehensive Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)-based programs. The safety of our eggs is monitored daily by our internal quality team and by full-time USDA graders and inspectors. All of Trillium Farms’ shell egg facilities operate and adhere to Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and are Safe Quality Food (SQF) certified, making our eggs some of the safest on the market. Trillium Farms utilizes and progressively updates its food safety and quality programs to ensure the most efficient and consistent egg production practices. Adherence to these programs is monitored and audited regularly by internal, customer and third-party auditors.
