Mervin Poore, Petroleum Department Manager

Mervin Poore
Petroleum Dept Manager

Mervin was born and raised in Rooks County, east of Stockton, Kansas. Throughout high school, Merv was active in 4-H livestock projects and sports, especially track. He attended Fort Hays State University where he again participated in cross-country and track. After graduation he worked the next four years for Phillips Petroleum Company as a credit analyst.

Merv came to Scott City in 1971 to manage a Kerr McGee station. In 1979, he built L & M Western Tire & Oil, which he owned and operated until 2003.

Scott Cooperative Association hired Merv to work in the fertilizer department until March of 2005 when he was asked to move to the Petroleum Department as manager. Today the petroleum department has two full service stations, on farm tire service, bulk fuel & oil delivery, and four 24-hour cardtrol facilities.

Even though Mervin has 35 years of experience in the petroleum business, you won't find him behind a desk. Merv enjoys selling tires, servicing vehicles, selling full service gas, and delivering bulk fuel.

Mervin and his staff of four men take very good care of our customers; whether it is delivering bulk fuel, fixing a farm tire, or servicing a vehicle!
