PESTICIDE NOTIFICATION INFORMATION
In cooperation with your local cooperative, the Crop Production Department of Pride Ag Resources is supplying you with the following information regarding the farm chemicals that you may request to have applied on your property. This information is required by the Environmental Protection Agency via the Worker Protection Standard and is regulated at the state level by the Kansas Department of Agriculture. This notification is given in the interest of promoting the safest possible use of pesticides, as well as protecting the health and well being of all our customers, our customer’s livestock, wildlife, and the environment. If at any time you have questions concerning chemicals or chemical services, please contact the crop professionals serving you at your local cooperative.
As you browse the chemical information, keep the following information in mind:
Product name: The common name the chemical is known by.
EPA Registration Number: Pesticides are registered by the EPA and receive a registration number to assist in identifying the product and manufacturer.
Reentry Interval: Different chemicals will have varying reentry intervals according the nature of the chemical and its hazards. The reentry interval is the amount of time that must pass between the application of the chemical and when it is once again safe to enter the treated area. This could be as simple as waiting for the applied product to dry or could be as long as several days. The purpose of this interval is to prevent you, your family, or your employees from becoming ill or injured from chemical that has been applied.
Active ingredients: This is the chemical in the product that has the desired effect on the pest (weed, insect, etc).
Posting requirements: This will let you know if the field should be posted during the reentry interval.
When placing your order always confirm the estimated application time and date for the purpose of calculating the reentry interval.

WORKER PROTECTION STANDARD
In August 1992, the EPA revised the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) for agricultural pesticides. The WPS is a federal regulation designed to protect employees on farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses from occupational exposures to agricultural pesticides. The WPS offers protections to approximately 2.5 million agricultural workers (farmers and farm workers) and pesticide handlers (people who mix, load, or apply pesticides) that work at over 600,000 agricultural establishments. The WPS is a national effort to safeguard the health of agricultural workers and pesticide handlers.
One of the requirements of the WPS is the prohibition of applicators applying a pesticide in a way that will expose workers or other persons. Workers are excluded from areas while pesticides are being applied. Not only are workers excluded from areas while pesticides are being applied, but they are also excluded from entering a pesticide treated area during the restricted-entry interval (REI), which is the amount of time that must elapse before a worker is allowed to reenter an area that has been treated with pesticides.
In order to comply with the WPS, Pride Ag Resources is making the required information available to our customers on our web site. Log on at www.prideag.com. On the menu bar click on the tab marked WPS. That will bring up information on the chemicals we apply, including the EPA Registration Number, the restricted entry Interval, the posting requirements, and the active ingredient(s). This information will be updated as new pesticides are added to or removed from the list of those chemicals that Pride Ag Resources applies.
If you desire more information on the chemicals we apply you may obtain specimen labels and Material Safety Data Sheets by contacting me or the managers at our agronomy locations.
